Thats not good..... even if its powered and not connected to the pc (i.e. the pc is turned off but still provides usb power) then some lights should be flashing.... Check your oscillator is working, and recheck the usb wiring.

My oscillator is working and my wiring is correct and I have 5 volts coming in! I've tried multiple Pics

Damn it, I might have been really stupid and released the wrong version of the code , try connecting a 4.7K resistor between RA1 and the 5V supply from the USB. See if that helps...

hey did you solve them? Can you post here. I have exactly the same problem.
The Led1 light up but manualy off, and then nothing happen, even windows shows nothing.

I also try the bootloader from microchip, I also pull RA1 up with 4k7 resistor, but windows can't recognize it, it says a malfunction device.

Sorry again, I say RA1, but actually i pull RA0. But it stiil does not work, widows say malfunction device.

Make sure you pull RA1 up not RA0, i made a correction to the article previously about this, also check your hardware for shorts, thats what it sounds like to me, a few guys have all complained of similar issues but have later found short circuits on their boards, as the usb port are sensitive to the current being drawn from them.

I will check it now

The board already has two decoupling capacitors, but when i take my hand near the board it stop running. I built it on a drilled-board. Can you give me some advices?
