I succeeded in developing a simple clock that creates a VGA signal (completely generated by software) out of a port of the PIC18F2550, and can be set/adjusted to correct date/time via USB (HID).

It was mostly a challenge (timings are really strict, we hardly got 32 pixel x 32 on VGA screen!) but this clock can be used as a wall-clock, restoring an old VGA monitor (640x480)

If anyone is interested, mail me.

Hi Mat, sure, this would be perfect for an article, since it was not "real work" but more "academic" (though I have a customer who needed such a clock!)

Let me know how to do it. I think I'll have time, as holidays are approaching

Its actually very easy, Just login to the website, then click Submit content (in the top menu), followed by submit article, and write away. Currently there is no method to reopen a saved article, so take a copy of what ever you type locally, (i normally just copy it into notepad).

If you need a hand with pictures or files, let me know, but it should be fairly straight forward.

Once you click submit I get an email and approve it, then it appears on the site.

Mat

Hi Mat, I did submit my article. Hope you get it (since there was some message during submission) or I'll post it to your email.
